Refrain displays a verse from a traditional folk song, chosen to match the time of day and season where you are. A new verse appears every 15 minutes, or tap Another whenever you like. The verses are drawn from classic fieldwork collections—the Child Ballads, Cecil Sharp, the Lomaxes, Baring-Gould, and others—gathered in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when collectors feared these songs were on the verge of being lost.
