Read aloud — a new session tool The other tools react to whatever you happen to say. This one hands you the same text every time, so two readings a month apart are comparable. - Two passages per language, in two lengths: the Rainbow Passage in English, Nordwind und Sonne and Der süße Brei in German. The text follows your practice language, not the language the app is in. - A result that leads with where your pitch sat — as a share of the reading, not a verdict on your voice. Then your average and median, your range and how much the pitch moved, how much of the reading sat inside your own target range, your reading rate against the passage, and how loud you were relative to the room. - Playback under a chart of your pitch over time, so you can hear the moment a number came from. - An optional prompter. Pick Slow, Normal or Fast: the passage lights the line you should be on, scrolls to keep it in view, and tells you how long the reading takes at that pace before you start. - Nothing is recorded until you press Start, so the time spent getting comfortable never becomes a clip. Recordings longer than a minute are no longer lost The Loudness meter, Spectrum, Gender perception and Focus screens each sent a take as a single file, and anything past 60 seconds was refused and thrown away without a word — the session simply finished and the clip never appeared. This is why some of you lost recordings you were proud of, and we're sorry. - Those four screens now cut a long take into pieces while it records and join them back into one clip. - Finishing a session waits for the audio to actually reach the server, so a long reading can no longer be stored as just its first 30 seconds. - If a recording fails to upload, the app now says so instead of staying quiet. Also in this release - Course modules and lessons that aren't written yet show as coming soon, with a clock rather than a padlock, and are left out of your progress.
