About
MLD Survey turns an iPhone or iPad into a fast, GPS-accurate field tool for counting wildlife — whether you're surveying from a truck or a helicopter. Tap a species button and the app instantly records one animal with its GPS position and the time. No forms, no fumbling. Big, color-coded buttons are built for gloves and vibration, so your eyes stay on the animals, not the screen. COUNT IN THE FIELD • One-tap counting with a high-accuracy GPS fix saved on every observation • Live GPS indicator shows your fix quality at a glance • Undo a miscount, or move it to the right species without losing its location • Haptic feedback on every tap — usable without looking • Screen stays awake while counting, with optional auto-lock to stop pocket taps SEE YOUR ROUTE AS YOU GO • Automatic route tracking that keeps recording with the screen off or the app in the background • Live map on satellite imagery: your path as a line, every count as a pin in its species color • Answer "have I covered that pasture?" in the air, not after you land BUILT FOR REAL SURVEYS • Explicit Start and End, so a survey records exactly the window you flew — nothing overnight • Crew, aircraft, and observer coverage captured per survey • Effort metrics: duration flown and miles covered • Weather for the survey window pulled from the nearest National Weather Service station • Custom species catalog and reusable species lists; add or remove species mid-survey YOUR DATA, ON YOUR DEVICE • Everything is stored locally — no account, no sign-in, works with no signal • Export any survey as CSV and KML (observations and the route flown), zipped to share by AirDrop, email, or Files • Auto-save each finished survey to the Files app • Transfer your species setup to another device with a scan-and-go QR code MLD Survey was built by a working wildlife manager and helicopter pilot with hundreds of hours flying deer surveys. It's shaped by the job, not a desk — and it's equally at home for any GPS-tagged animal count.
