Joconde transforms 13th to 19th century European art into a digital compendium of propaedeutics intended to introduce curious minds to the western intellectual tradition. We intentionally interpret art through a didactic lens, in accordance with the intent of the artists who painted these masterpieces. Discover the historical, mytholgical, religious and human stories hidden within Europe's most renowned artworks. 12,000+ FREE masterpieces, each with a short accompanying article. Approximately 2,000 of these paintings have human written articles and that number increases every month. The rest of our paintings have AI generated content elucidating the historical context in which the painting created, much of which is written in a very repetitive format. To avoid AI generated content, you can stick to the "Favorites" section of each top level category, the favorites section displays all human written articles for each category. This is a non-profit initiative. We add approximately 200 human written stories per month. All paintings are interconnected through a custom database that is manually edited, prioritizing quality over speed.
