About
Altimeter Elevation Tracker is an outdoor elevation instrument and a logbook. It reads altitude from the barometer and GPS, lets you calibrate it properly, and records the elevation profile of everything you climb. THE INSTRUMENT The active source, barometer or GPS, is always shown along with its accuracy. Barometric and GPS altitude legitimately disagree, and hiding which one produced a number would be the worst thing this app could do. Switch between a dial and a large digital readout, and keep an eye on your ascent rate and heading. THREE WAYS TO CALIBRATE Set the altimeter to a known elevation, enter the sea level pressure (QNH) from an airfield or forecast, or auto calibrate from the GPS fix. The barometer is precise but drifts with weather, so it needs a reference you trust. KNOW WHEN YOUR READING GOES STALE Weather moves pressure, and pressure moves a barometric altimeter. The Trend tab turns that into the number that actually matters: how far your altitude reading has drifted since you last calibrated, in your own units, with a shortcut to fix it. RECORD YOUR CLIMBS Start a recording and the app samples elevation and position as you move. Every trip is saved with its full elevation profile, total gain and loss, distance, duration and average ascent rate. Rename any trip afterwards or correct its activity type, and old trips keep exactly what they were recorded with. PRESSURE TREND Station pressure and its sea level equivalent, a three hour tendency in hPa, and a chart over 6 hours, 24 hours or 7 days with the high, low and range. WAYPOINTS Save the elevation and position of any spot with one tap, and swipe a waypoint away when you no longer need it. BUILT FOR THE OUTDOORS Feet or metres throughout. Everything is stored on your device. No account, no sign up, no tracking. Altimeter reports readings from the device barometer and GPS. It is a general purpose outdoor instrument and is not certified for aviation, survey or any safety critical use.
