About

Cuneiform is one of the earliest forms of writing created by humans. The earliest inscriptions date to the 4th millenium BCE in Sumer, and the latest to 75 AD. This sign list is ordered by the sign numbers of Rykle Borger's Mesopotamisches Zeichenlexikon (MesZL 2004) and also includes the Deimel Numbers from Šumerisches Lexikon (SL), completed and accommodated in Ellermeier and Studt's Handbuch Assur (HA). Each sign is followed by its number in both systems and its name, then by some notes if any, then by its Unicode code and name. You can add signs to your favorites list to easily access them and to quiz yourself on them.
