About
Welcome to Ox Hill (Chantilly) Battlefield Park – Fairfax County’s only major Civil War battlefield. We invite you to enjoy the park, its interpretive trail, and other battlefield points of interest beyond the park while you explore this app. • Use this GPS-enabled mobile tour to discover notable points of interest at and nearby Ox Hill Battlefield Park. • Uncover the history of the Battle of Ox Hill – also known as the Battle of Chantilly – which was fought in the late afternoon on September 1, 1862, during a severe thunderstorm. • Learn about the preservation battle that occurred here in the late 1980s and 1990s that – while saving only 4.9 acres of the historic 500+ acre battlefield – sparked the modern battlefield preservation movement. The Ox Hill Battlefield Tour Guide leads you through Ox Hill Battlefield Park’s interpretive trail and nearby points of interest outside the park using audio tours, our popular battle maps, and more! This app was produced by The American Battlefield Trust in partnership with the Bull Run Civil War Round Table. This app is one of the Trust expanding lineup of apps that are ready to be downloaded today at https://www.battlefields.org/battleapps.
