About

The Tamil Quran refers to the translation of the Holy Quran into the Tamil language, which is spoken by millions of Tamil people. The Tamil Quran translation is an important tool for Tamil-speaking Muslims to understand the teachings of Islam as revealed in the Quran. The Tamil Quran was first translated into Tamil in the late 19th or early 20th century. The need for a translation arose as a means of making the Quran’s message more accessible to Tamil-speaking Muslims who may not be fluent in Arabic. Translating the Quran is a delicate process. Some translators focus on providing a word-for-word translation, while others aim to convey the meanings and context behind the verses. Over the years, many other translations have been undertaken by various Islamic organisations, scholars, and institutions.
